Hi, I just wanted to take this time to fill you in on something I shared on a message board on Facebook two years ago. I’m relatively new to the world of comics; two and a half years, to be precise. My love of comics came about from being frustrated by being new to North Carolina and having a very hard time finding friends. Yes, I do have Heather in my life and that is a miracle by itself, but as she told me, I need to find friends of my own. Not just her. That was very hard for me to do. So, as a big fan of the Big Bang Theory and seeing a lot of similarities of the characters to my own personal struggles, I’ve seen them refer to comics a lot and wanted to explore that avenue for myself. A little backstory about my learning disability: I can read books, but I cannot comprehend what I read five seconds ago. So, I have to re-read the same page over and over again and I get bored very quickly. For this reason, I gave up on reading “normal” books. Being a Christian and being told by church leaders and youth group leaders reading the bible is a major part of your walk with Christ is very discouraging when you cannot understand what you are reading. Especially when reading the bible is supposed to be about more than the words on the page, and more about your spiritual walk with Christ. This brings us to two years ago, when I just decided to explore what I’ve seen on Big Bang Theory by going to the comic book store. What a world God has opened up for me! I love it! It all started with reading everything I can about Charles Xavier, a character in the X-men that is in a wheelchair and he is a leader of the X-men and his disability does not stop him. With reading about him, I realized I can read faster and understand everything I read and retain it to present day. This has never happened to me before! About a year ago, I mentioned in passing “I wish there was a Bible that was written in a comic book format.” After that, I was researching on the internet and I came across a Bible called The Action Bible. Even though it’s not a word for word translation of the Bible, it covers the major stories of all the books of the Bible in comic book form that I can understand finally and retain what I’m reading. This is awesome for me!! Some may think I go a little overboard with my new found love for comics, and maybe I do, but to me, I look down at the boxes of comics that I’ve read and remember every story that is in everyone and it is a testimony of where I was to where I am now with the love of reading.

I started a new comic Friday while I was waiting at Teeter, it turned out when I am not with Heather I can read a lot more (almost 3 comic books) LOL  Sorry Heather!!

In hindsight Monsters Unleashed should have been a book to read on Saturday caused thats how I felt, attacked for my thinking!!

Besides that, I was surprised by how good this comic was and thank you Acme Comics for telling me about this offering from Marvel!!

The story of Monsters coming to attack us for no reason or so we thought, it my just come down to a misunderstanding?

But we will know more when we read more…

Identity Crisis

For January’s Comic Book club, we had to read Identity Crisis by  Brad Meltzer!

I had this book in my collection for a few years but never got to it.  Normally I do not go out to the comic store in the winter due to the sidewalk is covered by snow or ice but last week it was warm so i wanted to join in the book club but I have not read it yet, so last Monday I started to read it hoping to finish it before Wednesday!!

Needless to say I did not finish it by the book club, I finished it today.

All over Comic Fandom, when this book is talked about you have people loving this book and others hating this book!  I fall on the 2nd side but I would not say I hated it but i will say I do not like it and it is not one of those Comics that is a must read!  My reasons are below;

  1. It is to wordy – It shows that Brad Meltzer is not a full-time Comic Book writer. Let your artist speak for you instead of telling every detail in words.
  2. I liked that you did need to read any of the other books to understand what is going on.
  3. I did not like all the back and forth in the timeline, to confusing!!

It did open my eyes to other characters I never heard of and someday will read more!

The main reason I did not like this book was feeling I had to read this and I did not enjoy reading it!!

The next book is Old Man Logan by Marvel and I loved this book!!!!!

At last we have a date!!!!

We all know about Capaldi’s departure, the BBC took time to confirm the release date of Doctor Who’s tenth season. The new slate of episodes are scheduled to premiere on April 15th at 9/8 p.m. CT on BBC America. The premiere will then be followed by the release of BBC’s new Doctor Whospin-off, Class.

For this Whovian, I can not wait!!!!!

We know more but is it the end?

On a rainy Saturday we went to Geeksboro (first time there since in Nov)

I started to read the latest Nailbiter book and on Monday I finished it!!

In this book we learn a lot about how the town began to have all the murderers come from but is it the end?

There is a few holes in the story left uncovered!!

I hope it is not the end…

Well I finally did it!!

It seen like it took forever but it is done, The walking Dead book 21!!

Thanks to my kindle I read comics even faster, if not for a woman coming up to me after seeing that I am busy proceeds to preach to me about what I am reading plus also complain to me about her shoes, that they are hurting her!!  I may live in the South now, but I am not from here!  Unless I know you, I do not care to be preached to or to hear about your hurting feet!!!

With that said I can not wait to read the next!!
